Hobbit Hole Chairs

A primary school five minutes from our workshop commissioned us to make chairs, stools and a table for a 'Hobbit hole' in their grounds. This is a wooden shelter that the children use as a playspace, and the headteacher wanted a local furniture maker to make the pieces that will help to bring the space alive.

The legs, rails and stretchers are joined in the main with wedged through-tenons. This joint looks beautiful, and creates a very strong connection that will hold fast under the dual assault of varying moisture levels and little hobbits.
